The rising sign (ASC) is the sign ascending on the eastern horizon at your birth. It defines your physical presence, first impression and the “shell” you reflect to the outer world.
Most people know their Sun sign; but the side strangers see is often the rising. That's why so many say “I don't feel like my sign” — usually their rising differs from their Sun.
Why It Matters So Much
